A considerable amount of the dates on my calendar are generated by school performances and artist-in-residence work. In 1988, I presented my first assembly program to an auditorium full of elementary school students. They loved it but I was shocked. I had not considered myself to be an educator or a playwright. I was just someone who loved music, children and needed to open a new stream of income. I now understand what “necessity is the mother of invention” means. Over the years and hundreds of thousands of students later, it has become obvious that this was always destined to be part of my life’s work.
There are people; children and adults, who learn through music, drama and other arts vehicles. How blessed am I to be one of the vessels to drive the vehicle? It’s funny now when I think about it. Years ago, I thought these assembly programs were just some good idea my sister, my aunt and I came up with. What if your good idea is not YOURS at all? What if the Lord Jesus planted it in your mind so you can be a blessing to others? “Do All that is in your heart” 2Samuel 7:3
