Choose Your Weapon
When I tweet, which is not nearly often enough I'm told, I try to say something informative, something helpful, or both. I have posted a few tweets with the hash tag #sharpenyourtools. Even before I heard a famous television preacher, who will remain nameless, tell a story that reminded me of that tag, I was attaching it to my tweets. The story goes like this. There were two lumberjacks chopping wood. One decided to stop and sharpen his axe. The other, hoping to dissuade his friend, insisted that way too much time would be lost if he performed that type of maintenance. He prodded him to continue chopping. Undaunted, the other lumberjack packed up and went off to sharpen his tool while lumberjack one continued chopping away.
Three hours later, his buddy returned only to chop down twice as many trees as the gentleman who refused to stop for maintenance.
This summer, I have signed up for a few professional, spiritual and personal development classes and workshops. I've loaded up on books on tape and self-development cds so I can turn my car into a university. All of which carry an expense and can be time consuming. However, if you don't take time to invest in yourself, don't expect others to. #sharpenyourtools
A few weeks ago I attended IGAA (Independent Gospel Artists Alliance) in Chesapeake, VA. The information they gave new artists was stuff that my industry friends and I had to learn through trial and error.
Hats off to recording artist and his wife
Phillip and Stephanie Carter, IGAA conference founders.
I have a new brother, recording artist Earl Bynum is burning up the gospel charts with his new cd. Earl's voice gave me such a deja vu. He took me back to the late 70s, early 80s when I first discovered DJ Rogers. I told him about it and we shared a good laugh. Turns out, he was in DJ's choir years ago.
There was no way we were going to let the organ legend, Moses Tyson, Jr. leave the building without setting the keys ablaze. He was passing through on his way to a concert entitled "Keys On Fire" where he and Twinkie Clark would be featured.
Special shout out to my new church family at The New Testament Church in Portsmouth, VA. First Lady Elder Williams set it off in that place Sunday morning and the Pastor Bishop Jerome Williams followed suit! He broke the word of God down teaching about how the widow who was thought to have nothing was still willing to submit to the Prophet Elijah. Not only did her generosity save his life but it was the set up God used to turn her into an oil mogul.
Thank you Bishop and Lady Williams and my new family at New Testament Church for your hospitality, sharing your microphone and buying SO MANY CDs!
